| When Esther died in 1918 the four orphaned children were separated. The boys were at first sent to a childrens home in South Wales and later sent to Canada. |
| The girls at first boarded in Hertfordshire but were then sent to a childrens home in Sheringham, Norfolk in 1922. |
| Caroline died at the home of Meningitis on 27th March 1923 aged 11. |
| After Caroline's death her sister Esther decided to follow her brothers to Canada. |
